While Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Hendon Hooker is pretty undeniably one of the most talented quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft, teams do have one major concern about him: his age. But Hooker doesn’t think teams should be concerned about that.
Hendon Hooker is 25 years old – a few years older than other top NFL Draft prospects like C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young. But he doesn’t think that is a reason why teams should pass on him in the draft, pointing out that Tom Brady just retired at 45 years old.
“It’s a long-term position. Tom Brady just finished at 45. The age limit on quarterbacks, there is none. Especially when you can do all the things that quarterbacks are doing. I think my attributes are seeing a lot of different football situations,” Hooker said according to USA Today. “That gives me that edge and my maturity trying to lead men gives me an advantage as well.”
It’s certainly a compelling argument to suggest that Hooker actually has an advantage over the younger quarterbacks in the draft due to his experience. We’ll have to see which team in the upcoming NFL Draft chooses to select Hooker and give him a chance to prove himself correct in the league.
