Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star wide receiver Chase Claypool was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but his Steelers career did not last long as the receiver was traded to the Chicago Bears this season. And now that he’s gone, Steelers legend Hines Ward is giving his unfiltered and honest thoughts about Claypool.

During an interview this week, Hines Ward gave quite a blunt assessment of Chase Claypool, revealing that he thinks the young receiver needs to “grow up a little bit,” questioning his commitment to the teams he plays for.

“Sometimes I think with Chase, it became more about Chase and less about the team. I think there’s a little more maturing level on his part. He needs to grow up a little bit,” Ward said of Claypool, according to Steelers Depot on Twitter.

While Claypool is clearly a talented receiver in the NFL, he certainly has had his issues, showing a lack of judgment during games and causing problems for the team both on and off the field.

Still, Claypool has confidence in himself, recently declaring that he believes he is a top-three receiver in the NFL right now.
