The Indianapolis Colts are moving to bolster the weapons around whoever is under center for the franchise in 2023.
While the Colts signed free agent QB Gardner Minshew, the team seems increasingly likely to select one of this year’s top quarterbacks come April’s NFL Draft.
Regardless of whether it’s Minshew or a rookie under center, the Colts added depth on Tuesday to a receivers room that desperately needed it. According to his agency — SportsTrust Advisors — the Colts signed former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie on Tuesday. The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

Last season, McKenzie was the Bills’ fourth-leading receiver, as he set a career-high in catches (42) and yards (423) along with five total touchdowns. After signing a two-year extension following the completion of the 2021 season, McKenzie entered last season as Buffalo’s primary slot receiver, making eight starts in 15 games.
He was released on March 17 and the Bills have since added Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield to replace McKenzie’s production in the slot. In Indianapolis, he’ll join a wide receiver room that includes the likes of Alec Pierce Ashton Dulin and Michael Pittman, Jr.
The 5-foot-8 McKenzie provides an explosive element to an Indianapolis offense that ranked second to last in points (17.0) in 2022. He also brings a level of speed and shiftiness that the other receivers currently on the Colts’ roster don’t possess.
Many took notice of this move and seem to think it could be an underrated one for Indianapolis.
