Veteran Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Cam Robinson will reportedly be suspended for a performance-enhancing drug violation.

SI.com, which reported the news Wednesday night, said the suspension is for an undetermined period to start the 2023 season.

The Jaguars’ second-round pick (No. 34 overall) in 2017, Robinson has started 75 games at left tackle, including 14 games last season. He missed the final five games of the 2022 campaign with a knee injury. Walker Little started in his place.

Jacksonville signed Robinson to a three-year, $54 million contract extension in April 2022.

One has to wonder if the Jaguars knew this suspension would be coming, given Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke’s response to a question last week. When asked if Robinson would be recovered from his knee injury and ready for training camp, Baalke told the Florida Times-Union, “From a health standpoint, yes.”

Robinson’s pending suspension makes the Jags’ offensive line situation even more problematic. Right tackle Jawaan Taylor departed in free agency and signed a four-year, $80 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Little had been expected to fill that hole, but that’s unclear given Robinson’s suspension.

Also up in the air is the status of Ben Bartch, who started the first five games at left guard last year before going down with a knee injury.

“He’s progressing well. I don’t know that he’s gonna be ready for the first day of camp. But he’s ahead of schedule as of right now,” Baalke said (via the Times-Union).
