As the Jacksonville Jaguars look to continue their playoff push and make the postseason for just the fifth time since 2000, they may be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence for the indefinite future.

In the fourth quarter of Monday’s game between the Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals, Lawrence dropped back to pass and appeared to get his leg and ankle rolled up and stepped on by an offensive lineman.

Lawrence left the game immediately and was taken to the locker room, although strangely he wasn’t put on a cart.

Lawrence had been having a great game for the Jaguars, going 22-for-29 for 258 yards and a pair of touchdowns before departing. Backup quarterback CJ Beathard came in for Lawrence and was able to put together a drive that led to a game-tying field goal for the Jaguars.

The bigger issue now becomes the long-term outlook for Lawrence. Coming into play Monday, Jacksonville was the No. 3 seed in the AFC, with a big matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, the No. 2 seed going into Monday, in just two weeks.

So far this season, Lawrence has been good, throwing for 2,746 yards and 12 touchdowns. If Jacksonville wants to make a deep playoff run in what seems to be a fairly open AFC, they will need the 2021 first-overall pick to be back as soon as possible.
