The NFL world was stunned by a shocking admission made by one of the brightest young talents in the league. Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams candidly said he had considered retirement.

Adams injured his leg severely in the Seahawks’ 2022 season opener. That injury sidelined him all the way up until this weekend when he’s expected to make his NFL return. Adams has dealt with multiple injuries, and this one stung him good. He spoke to reporters on Friday when he made the admission.

“It was tough. I thought about retiring. I thought about a lot of things,” Adams said via ESPN. “Is this going to be it for me? I didn’t know,” he admitted. “But I knew eventually, after I got that MRI, I told myself I’m going to be back. I didn’t know when or how, but I was going to figure it out.”

ESPN wrote that Adams “recalled bawling in the locker room when he got the news that his season was over,” per their report on the story.

It’s a good thing that he appears to be in better spirits and that he’s set to play again. Funnily enough, the Seahawks play the New York Giants on Monday Night Football in East Rutherford. Adams began his career at the Meadowlands as a member of the New York Jets.

The NFL world reacted to the news.
