While the New Orleans Saints seem to feel like they’re better off with Andy Dalton as their starting quarterback, that doesn’t seem to be sitting very well with Jameis Winston.
Winston came into the season as the incumbent starter but injuries derailed his 2022 NFL season. When he went down with an injury in October, Dalton stepped into his place. The strange thing was that when Winston appeared to be healthy and ready to return, the Saints continued to roll with Dalton instead of him. The strange thing is that it’s not as though Dalton is playing well. It’s at the point where fans are calling for Winston to get his old job back, but it doesn’t sound like Saints coach Dennis Allen is listening.
“We’re going to go with Andy,” Allen said on Wednesday. “We discussed it as a staff. I got an opportunity to talk to both quarterbacks, and I feel like right now, Andy is the direction that we want to go.”
This isn’t sitting well with Winston, who told reporters that the situation hurts his heart and doesn’t seem fair.
“It hurts my soul,” Winston said. “That’s all I can say. I lost my job due to injury, and the policy has always been you don’t lose your job because of injury.”

While the 3-7 Saints try to turn their season around this weekend, it doesn’t sound like there’s going to be too much of a future between them and Jameis, regardless of how things turn out.
