Jared Goff Syndication: Detroit Free Press

Over the past few weeks, Detroit Lions starting quarterback Jared Goff has not done a great job protecting the ball, losing three fumbles and throwing three interceptions in the team’s past two games. And it sounds like correcting that ball security has been a point of emphasis in practice this week.

During his press conference, Jared Goff made it clear that there is “an emphasis” on ball security as he’s going through practice this week with drills and other things to help him learn how to take care of the ball.

“Yeah, it’s great, it’s great,” Goff said according to Benjamin Raven of MLive.com. “Good to do drills like that always, and yeah, I feel great about it. Certainly, an emphasis on it, right? You have a fumble, you’re going to work on it in practice, so it’s something we’re doing.”

The turnovers led to a scare against the Chicago Bears and a loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Day, so it’s clear that it is something that Goff and the Lions are going to have to clean up going forward if they’re going to contend in the postseason.

But Goff said that he’s “confident I’ll get that fixed pretty quickly.”
