On Wednesday, the Denver Broncos made a pretty shocking decision to bench starting quarterback Russell Wilson for the remainder of the season, giving veteran quarterback Jarrett Stidham a chance to start for the team for the final two games. And it sounds like he’s embracing the opportunity.

During a press conference after the decision, Jarrett Stidham had a pretty clear response to the opportunity, revealing that he’s just planning to go out there and do what he’s supposed to do.

“I don’t think I need to overthink it. Just do what I’m coached to do,” Stidham said according to the Denver Broncos team website. “We have a great staff. A great group of guys around me so I’m just going to do my job to the best of my ability, do the certain things I need to do each and every play and move the ball down the field and hopefully score a lot of points and get a win.”

With the team presumably moving on from Wilson following this season, it appears they will be looking for a new quarterback to replace him. These two games will serve as a sort of audition for Stidham to prove that he can be that guy.
