During Monday night’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles star center Jason Kelce was flagged for a false start when he moved the ball early on a third-and-inches that the team would have converted easily on a tush push. But even if fans might have disagreed with the call, Kelce himself did not.

During his postgame press conference, Jason Kelce acknowledged that he was in the wrong, saying that officials have been warning him about his tendency to move the ball forward before the snap for years.

“They’ve been warning me of that for years,” Kelce said. “I had a tendency to do that in the past so they’ve definitely warned me before. I’ve got to be smarter, especially in that situation.”

Kelce also points out that if the yardage to gain was a little bit longer, the official probably wouldn’t have thrown the flag in that situation.

“I think if that’s a full yard to gain, probably not as much, but because it was so short, if I move it forward at all it’s going to be called, and I’ve just got to be smarter than that,” Kelce said.

It’s clear that Kelce is taking ownership of the mistake.
