While Jeff Saturday’s interim head coaching experience got off on the right foot, it’s been a disaster ever since. While Saturday has struggled with clock management and their offense has been anemic, the team has lost three straight, including a 54-19 drubbing at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys.

A big part of the problem has been quarterback play and it was assumed that Saturday might bench Matt Ryan (again) and attempt to kickstart the Colts‘ offense (again) with Sam Ehlinger. However, the interim coach has decided to stick with Ryan for now as the 4-8-1 Colts attempt to get back on track against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

According to The Athletic’s Zak Keefer, Saturday said he talked to Ryan and the Dallas game, in which he went 21 of 37 for two touchdowns and three interceptions. He said that Ryan is healthy enough to continue playing but knows he needs to improve.

“Casual and careless,” Saturday said of the Colts’ turnover issues. “It’s killing the football team.”

Saturday added that he “hopes” Ryan will continue to be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season.

“Winning cures a lot of ails, but we haven’t been doing much winning,” said Saturday.
