What has been lacking these past few years with the Denver Broncos is a strong head coach. And it seems they may have found that with Sean Payton.

Payton, who comes in with a lot of playoff experience on his resume, which includes a Super Bowl, reminds one of his new players of his former head coach.

Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy says that Payton and his former Alabama head coach, Nick Saban, have similar coaching styles.

“They are never complacent,” Jeudy said via the Broncos’ team website. And they are great coaches and great leaders.” Jeudy also added that Payton is “a little bit more funnier.”

Payton and Saban’s coaching styles are no no-nonsense, which is why they are two of the best in the business.

As for Jeudy’s status, it was rumored that he was potentially available in a trade, but the Broncos have since made it clear he will play a huge role in the team’s offense this year.

“He’s explosive,” Payton said about Jeudy via Broncos Wire. “I remember him coming out and certainly seeing film of him playing. Now, having a chance to work directly with him, he’s very explosive. He’s got extremely loose hips, which allows him to transition well. There’re the nuances of the game, relative to landmarks, and the exactness of the passing game. All of those things, he’s been really eager to learn.”

Payton also said, however, he will be tough on his star wideout.

“I enjoy working with him. I told him, ‘Hey, I’m going to be on you and we’re going to get the most out of you.’ He’s continued to get stronger. Couple times, he’s catching the ball with his pinkies together instead of his thumbs together. We’ll correct some of that, but he’s someone that certainly will be a big part of what we do,” he said.

A head coach being tough on him is something Jeudy is used to.
