New York Jets offensive lineman Mekhi Becton has had trouble staying on the field thus far in his young career due to significant injuries. However, it seems he is good to go ahead of the 2023 season and looks to be in far better shape.

Becton missed all of last season after aggravating a knee injury that he suffered in 2021 where he only played in one game.

He has practically been a non-factor besides his rookie season with the organization. As he ramps up for the upcoming season, he lost a significant amount of weight that could help his durability moving forward.

NFL reporter Dov Kleiman reported Sunday that Becton has lost over 50 pounds this offseason. He previously weighed over 400 pounds and appears to look much slimmer in recent pictures.

Many around the NFL world took notice of this significant change for Becton and praised him for getting his body under control.

Mekhi Becton came to the Jets with some very high expectations, being selected with the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, his body has simply not held up, causing him to be labeled as a draft bust at this point.

He certainly has plenty to prove on a Jets team that clearly wants to win now. New York recently declined to pick up his fifth-year option.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh recently challenged the once-promising lineman to “go earn” the starting left tackle position in training camp.

If his weight loss is any indication, he appears to be ready to fight for his starting role on this Jets team.
