Jimmy Garoppolo joined the Los Angeles Rams on what’s likely to be a backup deal behind Super Bowl champion Matthew Stafford. On Tuesday, while Garoppolo fielded questions at his introductory press conference, things took a turn. Garoppolo had to answer for his PED suspension last year and the ten-year NFL veteran was prepared.

Garoppolo admitted fault through his own ways for that PED suspension last season. It caused him to miss games during the regular season amid a disappointing season for the former Super Bowl quarterback. Garoppolo’s time with the Raiders was abbreviated, possibly for that reason.

The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue wrote that Garoppolo admitted he “messed up” on trying to use his exemption for what he earned his suspension for.

“Just messed up the T.U.E.,” Garoppolo admitted during his press conference. The NFL’s Therapeutic Use Exemption allows for players to get exemptions for specific banned substances. So, if he admits that he messed up that part of the deal, it’s no surprise why he will serve his suspension and is not fighting it.

Jimmy G will attempt to get his career back on track in Los Angeles. The ten-year veteran isn’t far removed from signing a lucrative deal with the San Francisco 49ers. But a lot can change in a short amount of time. Garoppolo’s time with the Niners ended in a difficult fashion, as an injury saw the time run out on him there while Brock Purdy took the reins.

Things didn’t work so well in Vegas either, and now we’re here.
