It’s been a while since Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a broken foot against the Miami Dolphins and many thought the San Francisco 49ers would be lost without him but behind third-string quarterback Brock Purdy, the 9ers have won their division and are headed to the playoffs.
With Purdy’s play and starting quarterback Trey Lance on the mend, once again Garoppolo is being put back on the trade block and like last year, several times are interested in his services according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport listed a number of teams that may be interested in Garoppolo and a few names may surprise some.
“I think he definitely would have had suitors this [past] offseason had he not been recovering from major surgery,” Rapoport said Monday on KNBR. “I think he’s going to do really well. I think he’s going to have a lot of options. I think he’s going to have a lot of teams that are interested.”
“Just looking out now, you have the maybe the Raiders, maybe the Jets, maybe the Titans,” he said. “What if they (the Titans) move on from Ryan Tannehill? Those are just three off the top of my head. And if you’re in free agency, and you’re a good free agent, and you have [offers] from two teams, then you’re doing exceptionally well.”
The Dolphins may also be in the mix depending on the status on Tua Tagovailoa but either way, Rapoport thinks that Jimmy G. is in an excellent position.
“I think Garoppolo’s going to be in a really good spot.”
