Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow left Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens early with an injury to his right wrist. And his team is coming under a great deal of criticism for the way the injury was handled and reported.

When the Bengals arrived in Baltimore on Wednesday, they posted a video to Twitter/X of the team getting off of the bus. One of the images seen in the video was Burrow’s right thumb and wrist being wrapped up.

And while the team deleted the video, it was eventually posted elsewhere, including by Caleb Noe of WCPO 9, Cincinnati’s ABC affiliate.

Despite this, Burrow was not listed on Cincinnati’s injury report going into the game. And while that was notable when the video showing Burrow’s hand was posted, it got more notable when he left the game.

Burrow was in clear discomfort after throwing a four-yard touchdown pass to Joe Mixon. He went to the medical tent and briefly returned to the sideline, trying to grip and throw a ball. It was quickly apparent that he could not do it and he went to the locker room.

When the Bengals returned to the field after halftime, it was revealed that Burrow was out for the remainder of the game.

The injury to Burrow, one of the NFL’s best players, is bad news. It gets even worse if he’s forced to miss substantial time.

And on Thursday, the Bengals received a lot of criticism for letting Burrow play and not having him listed on the injury report.
