Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow continues to excel, no matter the stage. Whether it’s in college or the NFL, Burrow is a cool customer. He and the Bengals pulled off an upset over Buffalo over the weekend in the AFC Divisional Round. Cincinnati has never done that in franchise history, and Burrow bears much of the credit. Thus far, he is off to a hot start in his NFL career. One key start shows that he’s ahead of some NFL greats.
Burrow is impeccable in road playoff games. Literally. CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones noted on Twitter that the Bengals quarterback is 3-0 in road playoff games in his career (Last year vs. TEN, KC; this year vs. BUF). That’s more wins than two of the best to ever do it: Joe Montana and Peyton Manning.
“Joe Burrow is now 3-0 in road playoff games. He has more road playoff wins (3) than Peyton Manning and Joe Montana had in their careers (each had 2),” Jones’ tweet read.

Granted, it’s not thoroughly surprising that Montana, specifically, doesn’t have a lot of road playoff wins. His San Francisco 49ers were usually so dominant that many of their games were played at Candlestick Park. Or at the Super Bowl. He had his chances, some against Chicago and the New York Giants, but they were few and far between.
Peyton, meanwhile, is a startling case. Manning and the Colts played on the road often in the postseason. But then you think of how Manning built his poor playoff narrative, and it does clear up.
Burrow, out to a hot start, has the chance to make back-to-back Super Bowls if his Bengals beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
