Joe Burrow Joe Burrow can do it all on the football field, but can he hit a home run?

Everything is still going according to plan for Joe Burrow. The embattled Cincinnati Bengals quarterback sustained a calf injury earlier in training camp. Burrow’s injury drew fear at first, but it settled once head coach Zac Taylor established that he suffered the injury that he did. Taylor once again updated Burrow’s status to reporters on Wednesday. In doing so, he essentially said nothing had changed quite yet.

“It will be several weeks from when I said it will be several weeks,” Taylor told reporters, according to Pro Football Talk.

Burrow quickly became a superstar in the NFL after his illustrious 2019 season at LSU. Although he missed much of his rookie year due to an ACL injury, the quarterback bounced back in a big way. The Ohio native has led the Bengals to the last two AFC Championship Games.

Never before, even in their 80s heyday, had the franchise made two consecutive AFC Title Games. And though the Bengals are a snakebitten and, at-times poorly-run franchise, they’ve never been short on quality quarterbacks. Carson Palmer and two former NFL MVPs – Boomer Esiason and Ken Anderson – couldn’t even achieve that feat. So that’s a testament to Joe Burrow and his abilities.

That only magnifies just how important he is to the team. It still seems like he’s in no danger of missing significant time this coming season, so as long as that’s the case, the Bengals will be alright.
