Months after signing one of the biggest contracts in NFL history, Joe Burrow is making a major investment.

On Monday, the Pro Volleyball Federation announced that Burrow and his parents, Jimmy and Robin Burrow, are joining the ownership group of the Columbus Fury. The Burrow family was previously announced as founding partners of the professional indoor women’s volleyball league, which will kick off its inaugural season in January 2024.

“I have been watching the growth of Pro Volleyball Federation since my parents and I joined the League, and it has been very impressive to see,” the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback said in a release. “It seems like every day more great news is announced about the League, whether it’s the great players who continue to sign with the League, the outstanding coaches who are involved, or the new ownership groups and markets that are added. I am very proud to be a part of it, and I am now excited to say that my family is involved in the Columbus Fury ownership group.”

Added Jimmy Burrow, the Director, Brand Advancement of the Pro Volleyball Federation: “We are thrilled to add another layer of involvement in Pro Volleyball Federation with our new role with the Columbus Fury. Robin and I have made Ohio home, and Joe grew up in Ohio, so being able to be a part of Ohio’s Pro Volleyball Federation team is a natural fit for us. We believe in this League and are excited about the future of Pro Volleyball Federation and the Columbus Fury.”

In addition to Columbus, the Pro Volleyball Federation will include teams in Atlanta, Grand Rapids, Las Vegas, Omaha, Orlando and San Diego in its inaugural season, with future teams having been announced for Kansas City and Dallas. According to Columbus Business First, the Fury’s ownership team also includes Jeff Gilger, a partner with Express Wash Concepts, the parent company of Moo Moo Express Car Wash.

The Burrow family has deep ties to Ohio that extend beyond Burrow’s time with the Bengals.

With Jimmy Burrow serving as the defensive coordinator under Frank Solich at Ohio University, Joe starred as the starting quarterback at Athens High School. After beginning his college career at Ohio State, Burrow then transferred to LSU, where he won the Heisman Trophy and led the Tigers to an undefeated season and a College Football Playoff championship in 2019.

Burrow then returned to the Buckeye State with the Bengals selecting him with the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. In the time since, he has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league, signing a five-year, $275 million contract with Cincinnati ahead of the 2023 season.
