Heading into the 2023 NFL season, Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow was among the favorites to win the NFL’s MVP Award, and after establishing himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league, he’ll likely continue to be in that conversation for the foreseeable future. But it doesn’t sound like winning that award is his first priority.

During a recent press conference, Joe Burrow made it clear that while he would like to win an MVP award “eventually” at some point in his career, it’s not his top priority at the moment.

“Everything has to go right for you to win that award,” Burrow said on Wednesday according to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “You usually have to have the best record. A lot of things play into it. I’d like to win one eventually. But it’s not No. 1 on my list for sure.”

Burrow likely has a long career ahead of him and has shown no reason why he won’t be considered one of the top quarterbacks for years to come. But it sounds like he’d much rather lead his team to a Super Bowl title than win an individual MVP award. We’ll have to see which one comes first.
