The Cleveland Browns turned to veteran quarterback Joe Flacco midway through the season following the injury to starter Deshaun Watson. Browns fans have been quick to embrace him – in part because of how well he has performed – and it’s clear it means a lot to Flacco.
During Thursday night’s game against the New York Jets, the Cleveland crowd was chanting Flacco’s name as he led them to a victory that clinched a spot in the playoffs. And after the game, he opened up about just how much that support means to him.
“You can’t deny it, I’ve said it from the very beginning, this city has been unbelievable,” Flacco said according to Pro Football Talk. “My teammates have been unbelievable in terms of just embracing me onto this football team. It’s all been great. That makes it that much more special to be able to come in here and play some good football.”
The Browns were able to clinch a playoff spot at home this week, and that made it all the more special.
“To get it done in front of the home crowd, to get ourselves into that next step of the season, made it extra special,” Flacco said.
