The Buffalo Bills fell to the New York Jets on Sunday in a closely played but frustrating matchup. Quarterback Josh Allen was prone to frustration as well, as the NFL MVP candidate was forthright and honest about the situation after the game. Unfortunately for Allen and the Bills, their troubles might have only just begun.
Allen and his elbow injury might be a hot topic of concern for the team. That is if those concerns come to fruition, and it’s looking like it might be a real possibility that the Bills quarterback is out of action for a significant amount of time.
Bills QB Josh Allen is being evaluated for an elbow injury to his ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves, per source.
Bills coach Sean McDermott said earlier team hopes to have more info Tuesday.— Chris Mortensen (@mortreport) November 7, 2022
“Bills QB Josh Allen is being evaluated for an elbow injury to his ulnar collateral ligament and related nerves,” tweeted veteran ESPN NFL insider Chris Mortensen late Monday afternoon.
The update to Allen’s situation is no small potatoes issue. This injury runs along the same path as Tommy John surgeries that MLB pitchers and players have had to deal with before. Should Allen’s eventual diagnosis fall under this category, it would be a devastating blow to the Bills. They’re among the best in the entire NFL if not the team to beat this year. Without Allen though, a Super Bowl contender they are not.
The NFL world reacted to the news of Allen’s injury with much shock and concern:
Yet somehow was able to throw a 70 yarder. Whew. https://t.co/ha1wlQVoUr

Oh mother Hubbard… I think it happened on the second to last play of the game when the #Jets stripped him. https://t.co/epldNJn22E

😬 … Allen's ligaments are supposed to be made of adamantium (hope this isn't as serious as it's starting to sound, he's too good to have arm problems it wouldn't be fair) https://t.co/zouVIWWUOP

He was shaking his arm like it was really bothering him … and then STILL threw the ball like 70 yards on that final play. https://t.co/8XxlG0gD9m

This is not at all what you want to hear. Might be nearing Tommy John territory. https://t.co/DUhlxTAglt

Obviously can vary in severity, but this is the same injury Allen suffered his rookie year that caused him to miss several games. https://t.co/2TCJuTx7j3
