The Minnesota Vikings lost veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a season-ending ACL injury last month, but it sounds like Cousins is still able to provide an impact for the team as a mentor to new quarterback Joshua Dobbs.

The Vikings acquired Joshua Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals before the NFL trade deadline last week, and it sounds like Kirk Cousins is already helping the new quarterback get comfortable in the Minnesota offense.

“He’s been in the complex starting his rehab,” Dobbs said in his Wednesday press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “We actually share the same agent, so I was able to get connected with him pretty quickly once I got up here, and it’s been great to have him as a resource. He’s been awesome. The first thing he said was, ‘If you need anything, want to know more about the offense, whatever you need – don’t hesitate to call, text.’ And he’s been in our meetings.”

Dobbs made it clear that Cousins has been a valuable resource as he learns the offense and joins the team.

“So, just being able to bounce ideas off of him, ask him how he sees different plays that we’re installing, it’s been awesome,” Dobbs said, “and I’ll continue to use him as a resource.”
