The children of Pro Football Hall of Famers are generally blessed with the football understanding that the average person does not have. They’ve grown up around the game and had the chance to pick their father’s brains occasionally. That appears to be the case with Kade Warner, the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner.

Now, Kade will embark on his own NFL journey. He went undrafted like his father before him. And his odds of making the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 53-man roster probably isn’t as strong as his counterparts. However, that hasn’t stopped him from exuding confidence in his sheer ability and knowledge of the game, even if he may not be the best athlete that Tampa Bay will have at the wide receiver position in camp.

“I take everything personally,” Kade Warner said via Matt Matera of Pewter Report. “Like I was saying, from that undrafted, that walk-on mentality, every little thing. Like if the coaches pick somebody else before me, I write that down, if somebody gets more reps than me in this walk-through, I write that down. It’s kind of like that chip on your shoulder, I think just that expression is said a lot so I don’t like saying it, but I take everything personally.”

And if anyone should know that being drafted doesn’t determine how your NFL career will turn out, it’s Kade, the son of one of the most famous undrafted free agents of all time. And like his father before him, he went undrafted. But that doesn’t mean he won’t have a chip on his shoulder coming into training camp.

“So, I’m competitive like that, and I’m the smartest receiver in this draft class,” Kade said. “I’ve said it before. They’re going to get a good slot receiver out of me, and I’m going to know exactly what to do on every play.”

It remains to be seen if Kade makes the Buccaneers, but it’s pretty clear he has the confidence to do so.
