The Cleveland Browns made the shocking decision to trade with the Houston Texans for controversial quarterback Deshaun Watson, despite the ongoing civil lawsuits he is currently facing.
While morally it could be considered a questionable move by the Browns, if Watson is able to be on the field for the team, they could be in for an impressive year in 2022. Watson is undoubtedly an upgrade over Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, who appears to be on his way out after requesting a trade.
The Browns appear to be in a good spot if Watson can play, helped greatly by the excellent running back duo of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt on offense.
Hunt has been the backup running back for the team for the past three seasons and is in the final year of his contract. He certainly has the talent to be a starter on other teams. So while he has a dedicated role with the Browns, he may want to seek to play more elsewhere next season in a bigger role.
Hunt discussed his upcoming free agency on Friday, saying that he truly isn’t sure whether he will be with the Browns in 2023.
“Right now, I’m just taking it day by day,” Hunt told Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot. “I’m going to see what they want to do with me. Hopefully, I can be here long-term. But we’ll see what God has planned for me.”

Hunt has been excellent at times during his tenure with the Browns. His best year was in 2020, producing 1,145 scrimmage yards with 11 touchdowns.
The Browns would certainly love to bring him back at the right price, so it will be an interesting situation to monitor throughout this upcoming NFL season.
