Last year, the San Diego Chargers were led by offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. But this year, the team has made a change, bringing in former Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. And it sounds like star wide receiver Keenan Allen is happy about that change.

During a recent interview, Keenan Allen made it very clear that he was not happy with the role he played under previous offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, saying he was “stuck at the slot the whole time.” But under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, that’s going to change.

“With Lombardi, I was stuck at the slot the whole time,” Allen said according to Alex Insdorf of Chargers Wire. “I’m inside and outside now, we’re all kinda inside and outside now, playing everything.”

Allen revealed that watches a lot of Dallas Cowboys film to familiarize himself with Moore’s offense, saying the team “pretty much watches them every day.” And there’s one player in particular that Allen watches and tries to mimic: Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb.

“He [CeeDee Lamb] moves around a lot, slot, inside and outside. He is a change of direction guy, going left or right.”

We’ll certainly have to see what the change in offensive coordinators means for Allen’s production, but it’s brutally clear that he did not like the way he was utilized last season.
