The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without star wide receiver Diontae Johnson for some time after he suffered a hamstring injury during the team’s season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers. It’s a brutal loss for a team that already struggled on offense in the first game. And it sounds like quarterback Kenny Pickett is expecting his team to rally to replace him.

When asked about the loss of Diontae Johnson in the offense, Kenny Pickett made it clear that he doesn’t see one individual player replacing Johnson’s production. Instead, he’s calling on all of the team’s receivers to step up.

“I think it’s by committee,” Pickett said in his press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “Obviously, you know Diontae is a really good player, does so many good things for us, and was really kind of trending in the right way. I thought we had a great offseason and were doing great things in the game.

“Everyone’s got to step up and pick it up. It can’t just be one guy. But you know, I had a ton of reps with everybody. So, I’m confident they’ll go out there and execute.”

We’ll have to see whether or not the rest of the team steps up to fill the void.
