Kenny Pickett Beaver County Times

The Pittsburgh Steelers did not play particularly well on offense during their season debut against the San Francisco 49ers as the team scored just seven points in the game and failed to even get a first down on their first five drives. And as a result, it sounds like quarterback Kenny Pickett knows he needs to be better.

During a press conference this week, Kenny Pickett had a pretty brutal assessment of his performance in the season debut, acknowledging that even though his preparation was good, the on-field result was certainly lacking.

“I wouldn’t say it was too much [a need for] adjusting; we just didn’t play well,” Pickett said according to Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “We didn’t execute it near what we need to be. So, you know, keep the preparation the same. I thought the preparation for the week was good. Just about going out there, playing well and executing. . . . I was good with my decisions. It was just throwing and the execution.”

We’ll have to see whether or not Pickett is able to execute better in his next game as the Steelers will try to bounce back with a game against the Cleveland Browns on Monday night.
