Minnesota Vikings star quarterback Kirk Cousins has already revealed that he plans to return in 2024 after his unfortunate Achilles tear, which came in a Week 8 win over the Green Bay Packers.

However, there are still some serious questions regarding where his return will take place.

Cousins is set to become a free agent this offseason, which certainly puts some doubt into his future with the Vikings, in addition to the fact that he’ll be coming off a  pretty severe injury when he does return to the field.

The 35-year-old quarterback spoke about his future on Friday, stating that the situation is certainly a murky one with more questions than answers at this point.

“Certainly your mind goes there and you know that’s coming,” Cousins said, via ESPN of his looming free agency. “But similar to what we said in April or August, March will happen in March. February will happen in February. Those conversations will happen, but it’s just not time yet.”

Despite the uncertainty in his career at this point, Cousins was adamant that there is “more to his story” in the NFL.

“I just believe there’s more of the story up ahead,” Cousins added. “That’s what I really believe in the core of my being.”

Prior to the injury, Cousins was on pace to potentially have the best statistical season of his career, recording 2,331 passing yards and 18 touchdowns through only eight games.

Cousins has shown to be a perennial Pro-Bowl caliber quarterback for the Vikings in the past. But at 35 years of age, there are certainly questions looming about how he’ll recover from this Achilles injury.

It remains to be seen whether these concerns are enough to make the Vikings organization seek out another quarterback in the offseason. But at the very least, it seems like that possibility may be on the table.
