Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has developed a reputation as one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league. And even after reconstructive knee surgery, it sounds like the Cardinals still expect him to make plays with his legs.

During a press conference this week, Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing sent a clear message to Kyler Murray, indicating that the team does still want him to run and they are willing to “manage” the risk associated with that.

“He’s healthy; he’s ready to go; and we will put him in a position to be successful,” Petzing said according to Darren Urban of the team website. “That’s always the nature of the franchise quarterback, and you see it around the league when they are very mobile, there is an injury risk associated with that. We have to manage that as all teams with elite quarterbacks do.”

The Cardinals know that if Murray runs, he’s going to take hits. And some of those hits might make them a little nervous. But that’s not going to stop them from allowing him to run.

“Anytime he runs and gets tackled, no matter what the situation, from now until the end of time, there is going to be like, ‘Get up. He’s good?’” Petzing said. “Anytime you have a great player in that position, you feel that way to some extent. He’s so dynamic at it. He’s going to get tackled. That’s a fact.”
