After failing to agree on a long-term deal during the previous offseason, the Baltimore Ravens and star quarterback Lamar Jackson will shortly begin negotiations once again. And while it looks like there’s a very real chance Jackson’s time with the Ravens is almost over, one current Baltimore player does not think the team should part ways with Jackson.

Following the team’s playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend, Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell said that he thinks the team has to re-sign Lamar Jackson to a long-term deal, saying the team needs to “make him our guy.”

“You can’t let a guy like him go,” Campbell said according to the Baltimore Ravens team website. “I know it’s football, and there’s always some new exciting toy, new exciting kid that has potential to go out there and be great. But this is a for-sure, a known. You know Lamar Jackson is an incredible player. I think it’s in the best interests of the Ravens’ organization to give him a long-term contract, make him our guy.”

While the Ravens failed to come to terms with Jackson, they did recently give a massive extension to star linebacker Roquan Smith who also represents himself, just like Jackson. So maybe there’s hope for Jackson, after all.
