Over the past two years, the Baltimore Ravens and star quarterback Lamar Jackson have attempted to negotiate a contract extension, but they haven’t been successful. It’s led to plenty of speculation that Jackson might end up on a different team, but even if that could happen, a current teammate reveals that isn’t the outcome Jackson wants.

On Thursday, Baltimore Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell was asked about Lamar Jackson and his potential future with the team, and he revealed that Jackson “wants to get a deal done” to stay in Baltimore.

“He wants to get a deal done, and that’s the most important part,” Campbell told NFL Network, according to Pro Football Talk. “Sometimes guys who are part of a team and don’t want to be there anymore, use [free agency] as an opportunity to go elsewhere. But he wants to be [with the Ravens].”

Even though Jackson might want to remain with the Ravens for the foreseeable future, that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will remain with the team. After all, the two sides haven’t successfully negotiated a contract extension in two years.

If they’re not able to get a new deal done soon, it’s very realistic that Jackson ends up elsewhere eventually.
