Throughout his first five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, former MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson has not exactly had a star receiver to throw to. But that’s changing this season as the team added former All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. out of free agency. And it sounds like the star quarterback is already impressed by his new target.
During his press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Lamar Jackson was asked for his early impressions on Odell Beckham Jr. as the team opens mandatory minicamp, and he had a pretty clear message about his new receiver even despite his recovery from a knee injury that kept him sidelined all of last season.
“I think he looked pretty smooth. Crisp routes, great hands. As everybody knows, he can catch the ball. He looked pretty good out there,” Jackson said.

Beckham has not played since tearing his ACL during the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at the end of the 2021 NFL season, leading to some concerns about his health and readiness heading into the 2023 season.
But it sure sounds like Jackson expects his new receiver to be healthy and ready to be a dominant receiving threat this season.
