Lamar Jackson Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

Lamar Jackson is ready for Week 1. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback inked a mega-deal this offseason to remain with the team for the long-term. It appears that the former Heisman Trophy winner is itching to remain a leader now that the knows his future with the team.

The Ravens will play the Houston Texans in their season opener in Baltimore on Sunday afternoon. Prior to the team, Jackson led the team in a huddle. Jamison Hensley, a longtime reporter for the team, was left stunned.

“Lamar Jackson gives the talk in the team huddle after warmups. Can’t remember Jackson ever doing this,” he said.

Jackson has already accomplished so much. He won the 2019 NFL MVP award in just his second league in the year. He’s a two-time Pro Bowler and a one-time All-Pro selection. In his short career, he’s thrown for 12,209 yards, 101 touchdowns, and just 38 interceptions. He’s a career 45-16 in the league through his first 61 career starts. His best season as a starter came in 2019 when he went 13-2. Last season he played just 12 games but threw for 17 touchdowns and ran for three.

Jackson and the Ravens are though to be one of the contenders in the AFC this season. And as long as Lamar is around, that will probably stay true for Baltimore for the foreseeable.

The NFL world had plenty to say about Lamar Jackson.
