Houston Texans star left tackle Laremy Tunsil signed a three-year $66 million deal with the organization in 2020 to become the highest-paid player at his position. He has since been replaced on that list, but reclaimed his position after a massive contract extension was revealed on Sunday.

Tunsil has been as solid as any offensive lineman in the league since joining the Texans. He has made three Pro Bowl appearances in four years with the organizaion. Houston very clearly sees his value and paid him accordingly.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Tunsil agreed to a three-year $75 million contract extension to stay in Houston. The contract includes $50 million fully guaranteed to him.

While Trent Williams still holds the top overall contract amount for a left tackle, Tunsil is now officially the highest paid at his position per year in NFL history once again.

Houston is likely to draft a quarterback in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft to help turn around their franchise.

There’s perhaps no more valuable piece for a rookie quarterback than a reliable left tackle like Tunsil has been. Many took notice of this move and are happy that he will be staying in Houston.

Tunsil made it very clear last season that he once again wanted to be the highest paid left tackle this offseason. Perhaps even more impressive is that he has now reset the market twice while representing himself in contract negotiations.

He also took to social media after the extension was made official, very clearly excited to be bringing in a whole lot of money.
