The Detroit Lions finally clinched their first NFC North championship on Sunday, a joyous moment for fans of the team. This prompted Lions legend Calvin Johnson Jr. to finally respond to an old tweet from the team years after he probably should have.
Johnson Jr. is of course one of the greatest players to ever play for the team, earning six Pro Bowl appearances during his nine-year career in Detroit.
He was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021, an honor that he was congratulated for by the Lions organization in a message on social media back in January of 2021.

However, Johnson didn’t acknowledge this tweet right away. In fact, it took him until Sunday, the day that his former team clinched the NFC North, to finally respond to the tweet.
“Much appreciated,” tweeted Johnson on Sunday. “Thanks for the continuous support! Love my city!”

It is quite funny that Johnson took nearly three years to respond to this tweet from the Lions organizations. Fans got a good laugh out of this on social media, but also thought that it was the right timing considering the accomplishment the team had on Sunday in their win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Bro didn’t think a response was deserved till we won the NFC North

Not only did Lions fans get to cherish their team’s postseason birth, but they also got a rare tweet from a former great like Johnson, who has lived a pretty private life since his retirement from football in 2016.
