When the New England Patriots benched quarterback Mac Jones several times during the 2023 season and ultimately left him inactive for the regular season finale, it seemed all but certain that he would not be the team’s starting quarterback for the upcoming season. But in a shocking turn of events, it sounds like that still could be a possibility.

During a recent press conference, Patriots’ new offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt shockingly didn’t rule out the possibility that Mac Jones could remain the team’s starting quarterback this upcoming season.

“Really right now, everything is on the table,” Van Pelt said according to NFL Media. “As we go through this process, we really this last couple weeks, 10 days, have just been diving into who we are, trying to evaluate our guys. A lot of people in this situation, on staffs that have been here, they’re doing free agency. Well, we’re doing our guys as they are free agents. We’re trying to understand who we have here, as well as looking at other players out there.

“But right now, everything is on the table and we’re just still working through that process. When then time comes, I’m sure it’ll be a collaborative effort and we’ll make the right decisions.”

Obviously, these shocking comments caused a lot of reactions on social media.

We’ll have to see whether or not Jones really is given another chance to be the team’s starting quarterback.
