When the New York Jets added former Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Mecole Hardman this offseason, it was widely assumed that he would have an integral role in the team’s offense. But that hasn’t actually been the case, and now there’s a chance he is traded from the team.

Through the team’s first few games of the season, Mecole Hardman has just one catch for six yards and was even a healthy scratch during the team’s most recent game against the Denver Broncos. With no clear role for Hardman in the offense, the team is reportedly exploring its options regarding the speedy receiver, including a potential trade – and he’s not sure how he feels about that.

“I just want to play, get on the field. Whether it’s here or somewhere else, it’s not up to me,” Hardman said according to the New York Jets official team website, “It depends. If it works out for both sides, I guess, I don’t know. I’ve never been part of this so I don’t know.”

It’s clear that barring an injury to another Jets receiver, Hardman will not have a consistent role with this team. So if he wants to play, a trade makes the most sense.

We’ll have to see what happens in that regard.
