Many fans were excited to see a potential reunion between former Pro Bowl cornerback Malcolm Butler and the New England Patriots when Butler signed a two-year deal with the organization in March.

Things did not work out, with Butler being released with an injury settlement from New England, but he’s now getting a look from another AFC East team.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Miami Dolphins hosted a workout for a number of players on Tuesday, which included Butler.

Miami is currently dealing with a number of injuries at the cornerback position, so it certainly seems like a strong possibility that Butler will be considered as a potential depth signing.

We haven’t seen Butler on the field since the 2020-21 season with the Tennessee Titans. Butler dealt with an injury-riddled 2021 season with the Arizona Cardinals.

Butler shocked everyone with his decision to first retire after being released by the Cardinals, only to unretire with hopes of returning to New England. It appears that his next stop could be in Miami, although there’s no word on how serious talks are going on in terms of a potential contract from both sides.

The cornerback is most famously known for his interception at the goal line to seal a Super Bowl victory for the Patriots over the Seattle Seahawks in 2015.

Miami currently sits at 4-3 on the season and appears to have a real chance of a potential postseason berth.

Butler could provide some veteran leadership to a Miami team that lacks much postseason experience on its defense.
