The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the midst of a quarterback competition between Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask, but it sure sounds like star wide receiver Mike Evans is ready for that quarterback battle to be over.

During a recent interview session, Mike Evans admitted that he – like all of Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans – just wants to know who the team’s starting quarterback is so that they can move forward with preparing for the upcoming season, which is quickly approaching.

“We want to know who the starter’s going to be, you know, soon,” Evans said after a joint practice with the Jets, according to JoeBucsFan.com. “So we can just keep working and [the starting quarterback] can take control of the offense.”

According to multiple reports, it sounds like Baker Mayfield is widely expected to be named the team’s starter, but nothing will be official until the team makes its formal announcement. And it doesn’t sound like Evans will be quite satisfied until that formal announcement is made.

Evans has never had a season with fewer than 1,000 receiving yards in his career and he’s made it clear that he’s chasing Jerry Rice’s all-time record of most consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. Whoever the quarterback is, he’ll be hoping they can get him there.
