Pittsburgh Steelers star tight end Pat Freiermuth has not played since suffering a hamstring injury during a Week 4 loss to the Houston Texans. But it sounds like there is a chance that he could be back with the team this weekend.
During his press conference this week, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced that the Steelers “feel good” about Freiermuth potentially returning to the roster during this week’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
“We’ll watch him go through the week and look at the quality of his work and the amount of it and how he feels and let that be a determining factor,” Tomlin said according to Pro Football Talk. “But, [we] feel good about his potential availability.”
Last season, Freiermuth was an integral part of the team’s passing game, catching 63 passes for 732 yards with two touchdowns. That obviously has not been the case this season, as he’s totaled just eight catches for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
The Steelers will obviously be eager to get him back into the lineup as the offense has struggled this season, ranking just No. 28 in the league in terms of scoring offense with just 17.3 points per game on average.
