Earlier this week, the Texas Rangers beat the Arizona Diamondback in Game 5 to clinch their first World Series Championship in the history of the club. It’s a reason for celebration for the Rangers, but it also puts another team alone at the bottom of a very unfortunate list.
As OddsShark pointed out on social media this week, with the Texas Rangers winning their first-ever championship this week, the Minnesota Vikings are now the oldest North American team in a major sport not to win a championship.
“The Texas Rangers were previously the oldest North American ‘Big 4’ sports team to never win a championship. What team holds that claim now? None other than the Minnesota Vikings,” OddsShark said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s pretty unfortunate news for the Vikings to be the leader in such an unfortunate category, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

Unfortunately for the Vikings, it does not look all that likely that this stat will change this year, either as star quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered an ACL injury during last week’s game that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.
