This offseason, the Cleveland Browns hired defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to run their defense, and it sounds like it could have a major positive impact on Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett.

During a recent press conference, Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said that he thinks Myles Garrett joining forces with Jim Schwartz will be a “match made in heaven” for the star pass rusher.

“As he always says, he takes the seatbelt off of those guys,” Berry said according to Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com. “It’s about generating negative plays, forced errors, turnovers and it starts with the D-line wreaking havoc with a premium on pass rush ability and that fits Myles to a T.”

Obviously, there is always an adjustment period whenever a team makes a scheme change, but it sounds like the Browns are confident that in the long run, this scheme change will be a very positive one for Garrett.

Garrett has been one of the most dominant pass rushers in the league over the past few seasons. It will be interesting to see how the new defensive scheme impacts Garrett this coming season and whether or not he will be able to even improve upon his dominant form.
