Last week, new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton made headlines across the NFL world when he gave a rather candid interview where he absolutely blasted former Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett, who is now the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets. And it sounds like Hackett heard the criticism.

During an interview with USA Today last week, Sean Payton said that Nathaniel Hackett’s time leading the Broncos “might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL.” And Hackett appeared to have a pretty subtle, but strong response to Payton this week.

According to Jets Talk 24/7 on Twitter, Nathaniel Hackett made a gesture to a fan after the fan blasted Payton.

“Nathaniel Hackett was walking around the field before practice just now. Fan shouted out “Sean Payton’s a scrub!” Hackett threw his fist up,” Jets Talk 24/7 said in a tweet on Sunday.

In addition to this move from Hackett, star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Jets head coach Robert Saleh have both sent strong messages to Payton about his criticism.

Between all of this back and forth, it’s clear that the Jets and the Broncos are in for one interesting game when they meet on the field later this season.
