While many NFL experts believe that the New York Jets are one of the favorites to sign free agent Derek Carr, the New Orleans Saints are saying not so fast.

According to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the New Orleans Saints are “ready” to sign Derek Carr.

“It’s my understanding that they want to get something done with Derek Carr,” Fowler said New York Jets podcast. “Like, that they’re ready to do that.”

The Saints met with Carr at the NFL Combine Tuesday and reportedly had a good visit with him and are ready to sign him to a contract.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen is all in on signing Carr.

“I think he’s highly competitive, he’s highly intelligent, he’s got a great work ethic, he’s an outstanding leader,” Allen told reporters. “Those are all the qualities that I like about him, and those are qualities that we like in the quarterback position. We’ll certainly let that process take place, but we like the player.”

The only question is, is Carr ready to sign with the Saints or any team right now? Fowler seems to think that Carr wants a third team to get involved in a bidding war to sign him.

Carr’s brother David said recently he thought this process will take a while and he didn’t expect his brother to sign with anyone soon.
