Despite a win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football, the championship aspirations of the New York Jets took a major blow four snaps into the season when new franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers appeared to suffer a devastating injury.

The Jets’ fear that Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon was confirmed by the MRI he underwent Tuesday morning.

Former ESPN commentator Jemele Hill, who currently works for The Atlantic, suggested that the Jets should plug the major hole by signing former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who hasn’t played in seven seasons.

“There’s a QB right there in New Jersey who took a team to a Super Bowl and a NFC championship game. Rhymes with Happernick,” Hill wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“The same QB who rode an All-Pro defense and got benched by Blaine Gabbert??” a football fan asked in rebuttal.

“Think you mean the same QB who was hurt and then reclaimed his starting spot as soon as he was healthy,” Hill wrote in response.

“I know this will shock you, but most QBs need to be surrounded with good players. And when he no longer had that terrific defense in his last season, he threw:: checks notes:: 17 TDs and 4 INTs.”

The NFL world was quick to react to the surprising suggestion:
