Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson hands off to running back Nick Chubb in the first quarter against the Bengals, Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, in Cincinnati.

Last season, Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb saw a pretty brutal drop in production once new quarterback Deshaun Watson replaced Jacoby Brissett as the team’s starting quarterback once Watson’s suspension had ended. But he doesn’t sound too worried about his numbers going forward with Watson as the team’s quarterback.

Nick Chubb had a career-high with 12 rushing touchdowns in the first 11 games of the year while Brissett was the quarterback but didn’t have a single one once Watson took over. But he’s downplaying Watson’s impact.

“You can’t really look at the numbers,” Chubb said according to Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. “Twelve is the most I’ve ever had since I’ve been here. I don’t think it had much to do with it. I think we did have to figure some things out, get the kinks out on offense and I don’t think I’m hindered by Deshaun at all. . . . No, I’m not worried at all. I can’t control what I can’t control. When the ball is in my hand, I have full control, so I’m not worried about anything.”

Whether or not he’s worried about it, the drop in production was noticeable and it’s something that the team will have to solve this offseason.
