The future of the Green Bay Packers is certainly in question due to Aaron Rodgers’ impending decision looming. However, they may also lose another valuable piece to their offense along with Rodgers if he does indeed decide to leave.
Packers star wide receiver Allen Lazard had a career year this past season, recording 60 receptions for 788 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He has been rumored to be potentially leaving Green Bay since the end of their season. That may finally come to fruition if Rodgers ultimately leaves.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafalo discussed Lazard’s future in Green Bay, saying that he and Rodgers are “close friends” and that Rodgers’ decision may impact Lazard’s destination in free agency.
“He is a close friend of Aaron Rodgers,” Garafalo said about Lazard. “He has been in touch with Rodgers recently. Much like everybody else, he is waiting to see what Aaron Rodgers is going to do.”
From Free Agency Frenzy on @nflnetwork: #Packers WR Allen Lazard is, like the rest of us, waiting to see where Aaron Rodgers winds up. Rodgers’ destination will be a factor for Lazard, one of the top free-agent receivers, but he’ll make the best decision for himself. pic.twitter.com/95Ip0m5Wyw

While this may imply that Lazard may join whatever team Rodgers ultimately signs with, Garafalo added that Lazard simply may need to make a decision that is best for his future if Rodgers continues to delay his decision.
“Some people say that wherever Rodgers goes Lazard will follow. He has got to make a call for his future and potentially get himself a long-term deal. Who knows what is going to end up happening with Aaron Rodgers.”
Rodgers has been extremely vague on when he will ultimately make his decision, most recently saying that there is a “time limit” quickly approaching.
NFL free agency negotiation window is set to begin on Monday at noon EST. If Rodgers continues to delay his decision, Lazard may ultimately have to make a decision that is in his best interest and part ways with his long-time quarterback.
