It has been an offseason of change for the Carolina Panthers, deciding to trade for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield to compete with Sam Darnold for the starting quarterback job next season.
Tuesday brought even more change to the organization, but this one appears to be something that everyone can get on board with.
Ever since the Panthers’ implementation into the league in 1995, they have worn a silver helmet to go along with their traditional baby blue colors that are synonymous with the team.
They revealed their first-ever alternate black helmet on Tuesday, featuring defensive end Brian Burns wearing the debut helmets that will be worn during their Week 10 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.
A hype video was posted for the new helmet on the Panthers’ Twitter page showing Burns and safety Jeremy Chinn in a number of different poses with the message “witness the dark side” being read at the end of the video.

Many around the NFL world seem to adore this new helmet, saying that they are extremely clean and are excited to see them in action in November.
The only negative I see with the black helmets is the Panthers aren't scheduled to wear them more. https://t.co/z3rSywvW43

The NFL’s changing of the “one helmet policy” has allowed teams to have a ton of creativity this offseason, with a number of teams implementing their new alternative helmets.
This new Carolina helmet is the latest example of that, and it looks like it is a resounding win for the team.
