As the 2023 NFL trade deadline approaches, an increasing number of players appear to be available.

That includes Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr., who has been given permission to seek a trade, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

“Carolina has discussed the matter with agent Vince Taylor as the player seeks a more prominent role. He’s welcome back if no trade found,” Fowler posted to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

It will be interesting to see how the market plays out for the 23-year-old Marshall, who was a 5-star recruit coming out of high school, according to 247 Sports. Following a three-year college career at LSU where he caught 23 touchdowns, he declared for the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Panthers selected Marshall in the second round (No. 59 overall) in the draft and he appeared poised for a strong rookie season in Carolina. After catching just 17 passes for 138 yards in 13 games as a rookie, he put together a more productive 2022 campaign (28 catches, 490 yards, 1 touchdown), but has tallied just 16 catches for 114 yards through the first six games of the 2023 season.

After not playing a single snap despite being active in a Week 5 loss to the Detroit Lions, it makes sense that Marshall would seek a fresh start. Shortly after news of Marshall’s trade request was made public, many took to social media to weigh in on the matter.
